Billing and Payments

Pilot Wings has several payment options, processed online with security certificates on all servers where your data is processed. The main options do not have any additional cost for payment processing, however, some of the options such as Revolut or PayPal involve optional additional processing fees that you cand read on Terms and Conditions of purchase!
Billing
Billing for our online store is done manually after processing and paying for the order. As per legal obligation, the invoice will be sent to email no later than the 5th business day following the transfer of the goods or provision of the services to which they relate. In the purchase process and form there is a space to enter your personal data and VAT to issue the invoice.

Tax Free
At Pilot Wings we offer a Tax Refund scheme, in partnership with a company that processes your claim when you leave the country. You can use the Tax Free service: on the day of departure, you can receive back the VAT on your purchases.
Did you know that if you reside outside the European Union, you are entitled to a VAT refund on your purchases? Simply request the tax‑free procedure on the day of departure. We initiate the process with Global Blue, and you only need to present the required documentation at the airport. This way, you save time on bureaucracy and make the most of your stay—just arrive a little earlier at the airport to ensure everything is ready in time for boarding.
Am I entitled to a VAT refund on any purchase?
No. Only purchases with a value of more than €50 per invoice (net of tax) and which are not for commercial purposes or resale are eligible. When leaving the European Union, you must prove that the goods are being carried in your personal luggage.

Tax Free in Portugal – How to Request a VAT Refund
Tax Free in Portugal refers to the refund of VAT on eligible purchases. In Portugal, the VAT rate ranges from 6% to 23%, depending on the product category. When you purchase a product in Portugal, the final price already includes VAT. The Tax Free system allows this tax to be refunded under specific conditions.
Eligible Purchases for Tax Free in Portugal
To benefit from Tax Free in Portugal and receive your VAT refund, you must pay attention to a few conditions:
Who is eligible?
The Tax Free system in Europe, including Portugal, is only valid for international visitors who are not residents of the European Union.
Pilot Wings is a participating store
Not all shops in Portugal offer the Tax Free service. To be sure, check whether the store displays a sticker/sign indicating participation in the programme. You can also confirm directly with a sales assistant whether a VAT refund is possible.
Minimum purchase amount
For a purchase to be eligible for Tax Free in Portugal, the minimum amount must be €61.35 (VAT included).
This total must be reached in a single store and on the same day.
Nature of the purchases
Not all purchases are eligible for Portugal’s Tax Free scheme. The VAT refund applies only to goods that will be taken outside the European Union. Items that are consumable or used during your stay—such as meals, hotels, activities or other services—do not qualify for VAT refund.
Documents Required to Request a VAT Refund in Portugal
Now that you understand how Tax Free works in Portugal, it is important to ensure you have the correct documentation for a smooth process.
Passport
Your passport is the most important document you must present.
It proves that you are a tourist and not a resident of the European Union, which is a key requirement for VAT refund eligibility in Portugal.
Refund forms
When making your purchases, a Global Blue refund form will be issued.
This form must be completed with your personal information and purchase details, ensuring all information is accurate.
Proof of purchase
Keep all your receipts and invoices.
These documents are required to prove the amount spent and that VAT was paid.
Don’t forget to keep the invoice from our store!
Purchased goods
The items must be available for inspection at customs.
If possible, keep the products in their original packaging until the VAT refund process is completed.
In some cases, customs officers may request to see the items.
